Advance features

1. What is Passphrase

Passphrase is like an additional protection for your mnemonics.

When your account is created, the wallet will generate mnemonic phrases (12 words) for you to use when you want to back up your account. It can also be called the recovery phrase. In addition to your mnemonics, you can choose whether to add a passphrase. It is an additional password (one word) to your mnemonics when you wish to recover your wallet.

If passphrase is turned on, you must need to input both of your mnemonics and passphrase to be able to recover the wallet so don't lose or forget any of them.

As mnemonics are randomly generated, people tend to write it down as it is difficult to remember. Passphrase, on the other hand, can be anything you want it to be so people tend to remember it and don't write it down. If your written mnemonics is somehow stolen, the thief will not be able to recover your wallet as they do not have the passphrase. *This is not a financial advice, create passphrases at your own risk, we are not responsible for any lost due to losing mnemonics or passphrase*

To create passphrase, simply check the passphrase option after setting up your account name and password. Enter your passphrase.

2. Segregated Witness

SegWit (short for Segregated Witness) is a new feature of Bitcoin. It was designed to solve the scalability problem but also brings benefits to end users: better security, shorter average confirmation time due to higher TPS, and lower transaction fees. SegWit transactions use addresses starting with digit "3".

To enable SegWit on the ELLIPAL, simply select SegWit after filling in your account name and password when creating a new account.

*Existing account will not be able to add SegWit*
