ELLIPAL Hot Wallet Service Discontinuation - FAQ

1. About the Change

Q1: When will ELLIPAL discontinue the hot wallet service?

ELLIPAL will officially discontinue all hot wallet services on October 31, 2025. Please make sure to transfer all your assets at once to your new wallet before October 31 to ensure full protection. 

Q2: Why is ELLIPAL discontinuing the hot wallet?

We’re focusing entirely on cold wallet innovation to offer users the highest level of asset protection. Hot wallets are connected to the Internet and therefore carry higher security risks.

Q3: Will the ELLIPAL App still work after that?

Yes. The App will continue to work for cold wallet users (Titan Series and X Card). Only hot wallet features will be removed.

2. Know Your Wallet Type

Q4: What’s the difference between a hot wallet and a cold wallet?

Hot Wallet: Created or recovered directly inside the ELLIPAL App.The private key is stored on your phone and connects to the internet.

If you can make a transfer without confirming or signing it through your Titan device or X Card, you are using a hot wallet.

Cold Wallet:Created using a Titan or X Card. The private key is generated and stored 100% offline on the device, and every transaction must be signed through the hardware wallet before it’s broadcast.

Q5: How can I tell which type I’m using?

In the App, look at your App's background color:

🟧 Orange = Hot Wallet
🟦 Blue= Cold Wallet
     

Q6: Is the ELLIPAL App itself a hot wallet?

No. The App itself is just a management interface for your wallets. It only becomes a hot wallet if you create a new account or import an existing seed directly in the App, which stores your private key on your phone.

Simply using the App to manage a cold wallet (Titan or X Card) does not make it a hot wallet.

3. What You Should Do

Q7: I’m using a hot wallet (orange account). What should I do?

You’ll need to transfer your assets before October 31 to ensure safety.

Steps:
1. Create a new cold wallet using your Titan or X Card or others.
2. Copy your new wallet address.
3. Transfer all your assets from your hot wallet to the new one.
4. Once complete, delete your old hot wallet account and do not use it again.

Q8: I’m using a cold wallet (blue account). Do I need to do anything?

No action needed. The change won’t affect cold wallet users at all.

Q9: I use a cold wallet but imported my seed phrase into the ELLIPAL App. What should I do?

Once your seed Phrase is imported into the ELLIPAL App with hot wallet service, it becomes a hot wallet.
To stay safe:
1. Create a new account on your Titan or X Card.
2. Transfer your assets to the new account.
3. Delete the old one.

Q10: What happens if I don’t move my crypto before October 31?

Your assets won’t disappear, but you may lose access once the hot wallet service stops working. It’s best to transfer everything in advance.

Q11: Can I use the same seed phrase after transferring?

We don’t recommend it. If the seed was used in a hot wallet, it’s considered exposed to the internet. Always generate a new one using your cold wallet device.

Q12: Will staking be affected?

Yes. All staking features related to hot wallets will be affected. You can transfer your assets to a cold wallet.

Steps:
1. Create a new account with a brand-new mnemonic phrase in the cold wallet.
2. Un-delegate the coins.
3. Please transfer assets to the new wallet address.

5. Cold Wallet Safety

Q13: Why are cold wallets not affected?

Cold wallets are completely offline. They sign transactions without ever connecting to the internet, so they remain fully functional and secure.

Q14: How does a cold wallet stay safe?

Your private keys never leave your Titan or X Card. Every transaction is signed offline on the device before being broadcast, keeping your assets fully isolated from the internet and online threats.
That’s why cold wallets offer the highest level of security compared to hot wallets.

6. Help & Support

Q15: Can I still use the ELLIPAL App to manage my cold wallet?

Yes. Cold wallet users are not affected at all. ELLIPAL App will continue to fully support your cold wallet, including viewing assets, signing transactions, token updates, on-ramp/off-ramp, and swaps.
