What is Passphrase?

Passphrase acts as an additional layer of encryption for your wallet account. When you create an account with a passphrase, it essentially generates a completely different set of private keys and addresses from those generated without a passphrase, even if the seed phrase is the same.

Therefore, if you attempt to recover your account using the original seed phrase without the passphrase, you will not be able to access the funds stored in an account that was set up with a passphrase.

NOTES:

  1. When creating an account on ELLIPAL, passphrase can consist of up to 32 characters of both lowercase and uppercase letters, as well as numbers. Special symbols cannot be included, and it's important to ensure the accuracy of the case sensitivity.
  2. While ELLIPAL does not allow special characters when creating a passphrase, you can still enter a passphrase containing spaces or special characters if it was originally created on another wallet.
  3. Make sure to enter the exact same passphrase when recovering your account on the ELLIPAL device or app. Entering the wrong passphrase will generate different addresses from your original ones.
  4. You can use the same set of seed phrases with different passphrases to create separate accounts, each generating unique account addresses. This approach allows you to manage multiple accounts securely. Please ensure that you back up each passphrase carefully, as they are essential for accessing and recovering each specific account.
