What  is Algorand ?

Algorand is a blockchain platform that is designed to be fast, secure, and scalable. It uses a unique proof-of-stake consensus algorithm to ensure that transactions are processed efficiently and securely. Algorand also has its own native cryptocurrency, called ALGO, which is used to power transactions on the network. ALGO is traded on various cryptocurrency exchanges and can be used for a variety of purposes, such as paying for goods and services or as a store of value.

How does Algorand consensus work?

The Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism is a crucial component of the Algorand blockchain platform. In a PoS system, the probability that a user will be able to validate the next block of transactions is proportional to the user's stake in the network. In other words, users who have a larger number of tokens (i.e., a larger stake) are more likely to be selected to validate the next block.

To validate a block on the Algorand network, a user must first be selected by the network using a random number generator. The user then creates a proposed block of transactions and broadcasts it to the network. Other users on the network can then verify the proposed block and, if it is valid, add it to the blockchain. This procedure makes it possible to execute transactions quickly and effectively while also assisting in preserving the security and integrity of the Algorand network.

What is Algorand's minimal balance?

Algorand has a minimum balance requirement to prevent spam transactions and accounts from overwhelming the network. To start using your Algorand account, you need to deposit at least 0.1 ALGO. For every Algorand (ASA) token held in the address, the minimum balance increases by 0.1 ALGO, which means that the minimum balance of Algorand varies depending on how many tokens are added.

How to add a type of Algorand Standard Assets (ASA)?

Adding a type of Algorand Standard Assets on Algorand cold wallet can be a bit different from adding tokens on many other networks. Some ALGO is needed as the minimum balance as well as the gas for adding an ASA. ALGO as gas is needed both when adding and removing an ASA in your Algorand wallet.

Before you add an ASA, please make sure your cold wallet and ELLIPAL Mobile APP have been updated to the new version 3.7.0.

1. Go to the ELLIPAL Mobile APP — Assets tab — Algorand account
2. Click “+” to select ASA or search for the type of ASA you want
3. Sign with your cold wallet to add (Gas fee required)
